In 1993, agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) attempted to serve an arrest warrant on David Koresh at Mount Carmel approximately 13 miles northeast of Waco. The events that followed became known as the Waco Siege, the most controversial clash between U. S. Law enforcement agents and American citizens to date.
